The first president of the United States, George Washington (1789-1797), was actually killed by improper treatment. Doctors drained almost 40 percent of Washington’s blood – he actually suffered from a severe sore throat.
John Quincy Adams (1825-1829) had a strange pet, an alligator, which was kept in a bathroom in the White House.
Richard Nixon (1969-1974) was mad about bowling, so he had a one-lane bowling alley built in the basement of the White House.
George H. W. Bush (1989-1993) almost died in a military operation during World War Two. His plane was shot down in a bombing mission over China, but he managed to bail out and was rescued by a US submarine.
