Lorenzo de’ Medici was the cousin and main accomplice of Alessandro, Duke of Florence, in his late-night debaucheries. On Twelfth Night of 1537, however, he had him ambushed and murdered. But Lorenzo could not escape his fate either: 11 years later he was stabbed to death under orders from Cosimo de’ Medici – at least that is what everyone thought until recently. New research suggests that the order could have come from someone else entirely.
