On this day: Hitler falls victim to a gas attack

A month before signing the armistice that put an end to the First World War at daybreak on October 14, 1918, Hitler was injured in a mustard gas attack in the Ypres Salient in Belgium. The corporal received first-aid in Belgium and then was transferred to a military hospital in Pasewalk, northeastern Germany.
