The second dawn of Islam

The Ottoman Caliphate under the Ottoman Empire was a symbol of Muslim unity for 500 years. Despite all of this, the Arabs of the Middle East lived in the shadow of the Turkish Empire for centuries. However, the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire after World War I contributed to the spread of fundamentalist trends whose objective was to establish an enormous Muslim state.
