Ancient Roman coins discovered at a Japanese castle

While excavating at Katsuren castle located on Okinawa Island Japanese archeologists have unearthed Roman coins which date back to around 300-400 AD. It is the first time when ancient Roman cash have been discovered in Japan. Researchers are puzzling about how the coins got to the castle, which built in the 13th century.
