Goose hunters’ big catch: a Viking sword

Goose hunters in South Island made a remarkable discovery: instead of killing large numbers of the wild ducks they found a Viking sword which simply laid on the surface of the ground , as one of the hunters said: ’waiting to be taken up’. The weapon was presumably unearthed due to glacial floods that wore the old lava fields away which hid the sword for centuries.
