Urine-based dye was used to decorate an ancient New Testament

One of the oldest illuminated manuscripts of the New Testament, the 1,500-year-old Byzantine book known as the Codex Purpureus Rossanensis, was dyed with a special substance which consisted fermented urine and weeds, a new analysis suggests.
