Curing illness with magic
In 1985, a metal-detectorist sweeping a bridle path near Middleham Castle in North Yorkshire found a 3 inch long diamond-shaped amulet with a loop at the top, possibly designed to be worn as some sort of pendant. The amulet, set with a sapphire, is decorated with a scene of the Holy Trinity on one side and of the Nativity on the other. It is engraved with an excerpt from the Latin Mass and the word ‘Ananizapta.’
