Mummy set ablaze


When Howard Carter opened the sarcophagus of Pharaoh Tutankhamen quite an unusual sight awaited them. The pharaoh’s body, the heart of which was missing, seemed to have been burnt. Research revealed that the black liquid used by the embalmers reacted with oxygen and linen eventually setting the young ruler’s corpse ablaze.
