The lost treasures of Egypt
In the early 1980s Franck Goddio, who previously worked as a financial advisor, decided to give up his office job in order to pursue his passion for underwater archaeology and to devote all his time to this hobby. The French underwater archaeologist made headlines with his spectacular finds over the years, and delighted the people having an interest in history. His main discoveries included those of the San Diego, a Spanish merchant galleon, and the Royal Captain, a British East India Company trading ship. However, the underwater excavations at the ruins of the Royal Quarters of Alexandria and the sunken ancient cities of Heracleion and Canopus are considered his most remarkable achievements.
